Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to the CompHub Frequently Asked Questions page. Here you can find answers to common questions about our custom-built PCs, gaming computers, components, monitors, peripherals, PC services, delivery and collection. CompHub is an Irish PC store with an offline location in Dublin and an online presence serving customers across Ireland. We build and supply computers for gamers, designers, creators, students, home users and businesses, while also offering diagnostics, installation, upgrades and other PC services. If you cannot find the answer to your question below, please contact our team and we will be happy to provide further information or help you choose the right product or service for your requirements.
Are CompHub PCs ready to use when I receive them?
Yes. Our pre-built and custom-built PCs are prepared and tested by CompHub before they are dispatched or collected. We aim to make the process as straightforward as possible, so customers can receive their PC and get started without having to assemble the system themselves. The exact software and configuration included with a PC depends on the specific product and options selected when ordering. Every PC is tested using tools including OCCT and FurMark to help verify system stability and hardware performance before it leaves us. If you are unsure whether a particular PC includes a specific component, operating system or service, we recommend checking the individual product page or contacting CompHub before placing your order.
Can I customise a CompHub PC?
Yes. We offer custom PC builds and can make changes to many of our systems depending on component availability and compatibility. Customers can contact us if they want to change hardware such as the processor, graphics card, memory, storage, motherboard, cooling, power supply or case. Some requested changes may not be possible because of compatibility, availability or other technical considerations, so customisation is subject to review. In some cases, a requested component or configuration may also result in an additional charge. If you already have a specific configuration in mind, contact CompHub with your requirements and we can review the proposed build and advise you on the available options before you place the order.
Can I order a completely custom-built PC?
Yes. You can contact CompHub to request a fully custom-built PC based on your budget, intended use and preferred components. We can help select suitable hardware for different requirements, including gaming, content creation, design, study, home use, professional applications and business. The build timeframe depends on whether all required components are currently available. Once we understand your requirements and confirm component availability, we can provide an estimated timeframe for the build. If components need to be ordered, the overall timeframe may depend on their availability and delivery to CompHub. For the most accurate estimate, we recommend contacting us before ordering so our team can discuss your requirements and provide the relevant information.
Can I request a specific brand or component?
Yes. Customers can request a specific brand, model or component for a custom PC where it is available and technically suitable for the requested configuration. This can include specific graphics cards, processors, motherboards, memory, storage, cases, cooling systems or other hardware. Availability and compatibility will always need to be considered before we confirm the requested configuration. Some specific or premium components may also involve an additional cost. If the requested component is not currently in stock, we may be able to order it specifically for your build. Before proceeding, CompHub will provide information about the applicable price and estimated availability or delivery timeframe so you can make an informed decision before the custom build is confirmed.
Can CompHub help me choose a PC for my needs?
Yes. One of the main benefits of choosing CompHub is that we can help you select a PC based on what you actually need it to do. Different applications and games can benefit from different combinations of processor, graphics card, memory and storage, so we do not believe every customer needs the same configuration. We can help recommend systems for gaming, design, content creation, study, home use, office work and professional applications. If you are unsure which PC is suitable, tell us your budget, the games or software you use and any other requirements you have. Our team can then help you identify a suitable configuration or explain which components are most important for your particular use case.
Are all CompHub PCs tested before delivery or collection?
Yes. Every PC built by CompHub is tested before it is dispatched or made available for collection. Our testing process can include tools such as OCCT and FurMark, depending on the system and the type of testing required. These tests help us identify potential hardware or stability issues before the PC reaches the customer. Testing is an important part of our build process because we want to ensure that the system has been checked before it leaves our premises. If you are collecting your PC from our Dublin location, you can also request additional testing at collection where appropriate. This provides another opportunity to see the system operating and allows our team to answer questions before you take the PC home.
Will I receive a video of my PC testing?
We aim to provide customers with video evidence of their PC testing where possible. This allows customers to see that their system has been tested before delivery or collection and provides additional transparency around our build process. We make an effort to send testing videos to each customer, although this cannot always be guaranteed. In particular, the availability of a testing video may depend on whether we are able to successfully communicate with the customer and deliver the video to them. Regardless of whether a video is provided, every CompHub PC is tested before it leaves us. If receiving testing evidence is particularly important to you, we recommend mentioning this when placing your order or contacting our team so we can take your request into account.
How long does a custom PC take to build?
The time required to build a custom PC depends on the configuration, component availability and delivery of any parts that need to be ordered. Because these factors can change between orders, we recommend contacting CompHub for the most accurate current estimate before placing an order. Where all required components are available, a custom build can normally be completed within our typical build timeframe. If components need to be sourced from suppliers, additional time may be required before assembly can begin. The estimated timeframe provided for your particular build will therefore depend on the components selected and their availability. If circumstances change and your order is expected to take longer than initially estimated, CompHub will contact you to discuss the available options.
What happens if a component I want is out of stock?
If a component required for your custom PC build is not currently in stock, this does not necessarily prevent us from building the system. In many cases, CompHub can order the required component from a supplier. Before proceeding, we can provide information about the additional cost and estimated delivery timeframe associated with obtaining the component. This allows you to decide whether you want to continue with the requested configuration or consider an alternative component that may be available sooner. Component availability can change, so the exact timeframe depends on the supplier and delivery to CompHub. If you are working towards a particular deadline, we recommend contacting us before placing your order so we can check availability and provide the most accurate information available at that time.
How is payment handled for a custom PC?
The payment arrangement for a custom-built PC depends on how the order is placed and whether the customer is arranging collection or delivery. For a custom PC paid by cash at collection, a 10% deposit is required to confirm the build. For orders paid by card, including orders requiring delivery, 100% payment is required, with 10% of the total amount treated as a non-refundable deposit in accordance with the applicable terms. The specific cancellation and payment conditions for custom-built systems are set out in our Terms & Conditions. If you are considering a custom build and are unsure which payment arrangement applies to your order, please contact CompHub before placing the order and our team can explain the available options.
Can I bring my own components for a PC build?
Yes. CompHub can work with customers who want to provide their own PC components for a build or installation service. Because the components belong to the customer, CompHub cannot provide a warranty covering the condition or functionality of those customer-supplied parts. We can provide the applicable assembly or installation service, but responsibility for whether the customer's components are working correctly remains with the customer or the original supplier/manufacturer. Depending on the service required, we may also be able to perform diagnostics if there is a problem with the supplied hardware. If the issue cannot be easily diagnosed, an additional charge may apply. The relevant service and its current price will normally be shown on the CompHub website. Contact us if you are unsure which service is appropriate.
Does CompHub deliver outside Ireland?
At the moment, CompHub delivers within the Republic of Ireland. Our current delivery pricing and estimated delivery information are provided specifically for orders being delivered within Ireland. The applicable delivery price and estimated timeframe are shown directly on the relevant product page, as they can vary depending on the product and order requirements. For nationwide delivery, we primarily use An Post, while eligible Dublin deliveries may be handled directly by a member of the CompHub team. If you are outside Ireland and would like to purchase a product, please contact us before placing an order to discuss your location and whether an alternative arrangement may be possible. Our delivery coverage may expand in the future as our business develops.
Which delivery service does CompHub use?
For most nationwide deliveries across Ireland, CompHub primarily uses An Post. For eligible deliveries within Dublin, a member of the CompHub team may deliver the order directly. The delivery method used can depend on the product, destination and order requirements. The applicable delivery price and estimated delivery timeframe are displayed on the individual product page before you place your order. We aim to provide a tracking number for each order where the delivery provider supplies tracking information. If a tracking number is not provided by the delivery provider, we cannot provide one that has not been issued. An Post's applicable delivery policies apply to shipments handled through their network, including situations where a delivery cannot be completed.
Where can I find the delivery price and estimated delivery time?
The delivery price and estimated delivery timeframe are shown directly on the individual product page. We use this approach because different products can have different delivery requirements, sizes, weights and availability. Rather than publishing one general delivery price or timeframe that may not apply to every order, customers can check the information relevant to the specific product before purchasing. For pre-order products, the displayed delivery timeframe is an estimate and may depend on when the product becomes available and reaches CompHub. If we expect a significant delay beyond the stated estimate, we will contact you and provide the option to continue waiting or request a refund where applicable. This ensures customers receive information relevant to their particular order.
Can I collect my order from CompHub?
Yes. Collection from our Dublin office is available for eligible orders, normally during our published working hours unless another arrangement has been agreed. The applicable collection information is shown on the relevant product page. If you are collecting an order, we recommend contacting us or waiting for confirmation that the order is ready before travelling to our location. The person collecting the order should have the relevant order number and valid ID available so we can confirm the order and identity. If you are having difficulty finding the business centre or accessing the building, please contact us by phone. Occasionally, the entrance doors to the business centre may be closed, and calling the CompHub team can help you gain access and locate our office.
Can I change my delivery address after ordering?
Yes, a delivery address can normally be changed if the order has not already been dispatched to the original address. If you realise that your address is incorrect, please contact CompHub as soon as possible so we can update the order before dispatch where possible. Once an order has already been sent to the original address, changing the destination may no longer be possible and will depend on the procedures of the delivery provider. Customers should therefore check their address carefully when placing an order. If you need to change your address after ordering, contacting us quickly gives us the best opportunity to make the change before the order enters the delivery process.
Does CompHub accept cash payments?
Yes. Cash payment is available for collection orders. However, products are not reserved simply because a customer intends to pay in cash. A product is considered confirmed once the required payment has actually been made. This means that an item may remain available for another customer until payment is received. For delivery orders, payment is made by the available online payment methods, including card payment. If you specifically want to pay cash and need an item secured for collection, please contact CompHub to discuss the order and applicable payment requirements. This policy helps ensure that stock remains available fairly and prevents products from being held indefinitely without payment.
When is my order confirmed?
An order is considered confirmed once the required payment has been received. The exact payment arrangement can depend on the type of order and whether the customer has selected delivery or collection. For cash collection orders, the product is not reserved until the cash payment has actually been made. For custom-built PCs, the applicable deposit or full payment requirements depend on the payment method and order arrangement. Once payment has been received and the order is confirmed, CompHub can proceed with the applicable preparation, build, testing or delivery process. If you have placed an order and are unsure whether it has been successfully confirmed, please contact us with your order details and our team can check the status for you.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Whether an order can be changed or cancelled depends on the type of product, the stage of the order and the circumstances. Standard products and custom-built systems can be subject to different conditions, particularly once components have been ordered, a custom build has started or the order has entered the delivery process. Rather than applying one rule to every purchase, CompHub handles cancellations and changes according to the applicable Terms & Conditions and consumer rights. If you need to change or cancel an order, contact us as soon as possible before it progresses further. Our team will review the order and explain what options are available. For complete information about cancellation, deposits and custom orders, please refer to our Returns & Refunds page and Terms & Conditions.
Does CompHub repair PCs purchased elsewhere?
Yes. CompHub can provide PC diagnostics and repair services for computers that were not originally purchased from CompHub. The cost depends on the reason for the service and the work required. Our diagnostic service is designed to help identify problems affecting a PC, including hardware or other issues that may prevent the system from operating correctly. The applicable diagnostics price is displayed on the CompHub website. If further repair or installation work is required, we can discuss the available service and any additional cost before proceeding where appropriate. Customers can contact us or use the relevant service page to arrange assistance. We recommend providing as much information as possible about the problem, including symptoms, error messages or when the issue first appeared.
Can I bring my PC to CompHub for diagnostics?
Yes. Customers can bring their PC to our Dublin location for diagnostics. Our team can inspect and test the system to help identify the cause of a hardware or PC-related problem. The applicable diagnostic service and price are displayed on the CompHub website. Depending on the issue, we may initially ask you to provide information or perform a small amount of basic troubleshooting before bringing the PC in. If the problem requires further investigation, our team can carry out the appropriate diagnostics. If additional repair or service work is required beyond the diagnostic service, we can explain the available options and any applicable additional costs. We recommend contacting us before visiting if you are unsure which service you need or whether your particular problem requires a specialist service.
What types of PC problems can CompHub diagnose?
CompHub can help with a wide range of PC-related problems, including issues affecting hardware, system stability, display, performance, cooling and general operation. Examples may include a PC that will not start, crashes, restarts unexpectedly, displays no image, experiences overheating or behaves differently from normal. The exact diagnostic process depends on the symptoms and the hardware involved. Our services are intended to help identify the cause of the problem so that the appropriate next step can be determined. If the required work involves repairing individual components rather than diagnosing the PC itself, a different service may be required. The applicable diagnostic and service prices are listed on the CompHub website. If you are unsure which service applies, contact our team before booking.
Can CompHub upgrade my existing PC?
Yes. CompHub provides PC upgrade services for customers who want to improve an existing system rather than replace the entire computer. Depending on the system, upgrades may include graphics cards, processors, RAM, SSDs, power supplies, cooling and other compatible hardware. The exact upgrade possible depends on the existing components, compatibility and available space or power capacity. Service prices are shown on the relevant CompHub website pages, allowing customers to understand the applicable cost before proceeding. If you are unsure which component should be upgraded, we can help assess your current system and recommend an appropriate upgrade path. This can be particularly useful when a PC is still suitable for your needs but one or two components are limiting performance.
Can I bring my own components for installation?
Yes. CompHub can install customer-supplied PC components, subject to compatibility and the applicable service. This can include hardware such as graphics cards, processors, memory, storage, power supplies or cooling components. The relevant installation service and price are listed on the CompHub website. Because the component belongs to the customer and was not supplied by CompHub, we cannot provide a warranty covering whether that component itself is functional or free from defects. Our responsibility is limited to the installation service provided. If the supplied component is faulty, incompatible or otherwise causes an issue, additional diagnostics may be required and may involve an additional charge depending on the circumstances. We recommend checking compatibility before bringing a component to us, or contacting CompHub if you need assistance.
